Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation

The #Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme is proposed at 27.20 km upstream of
Sir Aurthur Cotton Barrage at Dowlaiswaram, on Akhanda Godavari right bank near Tadipudi village, of Tallapudi Mandal, West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh to draw 194.52 cumecs of water from river.
The Chinthalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme proposed by the Water Resources Department of
Andhra Pradesh has given thrust to provide drinking water facilities to about 25.94 lacks
population in 410 habitations. Besides the scheme provides assured irrigation facilities to 480000
acres in upland area of West Godavari and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh.
The scheme is essentially a Lift irrigation scheme where surplus waters are pumped from the
River Godavari in 3 lift stages.
Lift-1 from River Godavari near Tadipudi village
Lift-2 from leading channel near Kovvurupadu village
Lift-3 near Rowthugudem village to reservoir across Jalleru stream
